i cant seem to find a way to put the info together or write about it.. iv been stuck on the comp for a hours now..staring at the screen (+:.... cant even write a word
so plz... how can i start it.. and what can i include.. and general stuff about writing an essay or research paper on something..
How can i start a research paper on (Vertical Take-Off and Landing).. i have the resources and knowledge but..
The usual pattern of an essay should be applicable.
The Intro (Why we need a VTOL, ....)
How ... it works (tech jargon, thrust vectoring, aerodynamic constraints, how the rudders and ailerons become ineffective during a hover, engine cooling, ), pros, cons, examples (the only jet to land in Manhattan)
Concusion.
Give some thought to the flow of matter, a smooth transition from intro to technology and a conclusion that mainly focusses on the benefits.
Reply:Several approaches. Are you going for informational / expositional paper, argumentative/essay type paper with a statement that you need to prove with evidence, or some other type?
Informational basically is you tell them a lot of things, start with the simple, and onto more complex, or you can do chronological, from WW2 all the way up to present.
Ex: Planes are useful, but needs a long prepared runway. VTOL is a way to eliminate even that for more flexibility. The first VTOL...
Ex: VTOL has many different forms. There's tilt-wing, tilt-rotor / engine, tail lander, and thrust redirect. The simplest is tilt-wing. By rotating the wing on a hinge, the wing and the engine can be pointed straight up...
Essay-type has a central statement you need to prove.
Ex: The future of VTOL is bright. Computers have allowed the creation of automatic flight controls that made unstable aircraft flyable, and modern actuators allow a lot more precise and fast movement of nozzles, giving the craft exceptional maneuverability... One day, flying cars (which are basically personal VTOL crafts) will be popular like sci-fi movies predicted, and we're well on our way. (Then you explain all the advances that would lead the way to flying cars)
Reply:Tell them all about the engines, about the harrier, and all that stuff. VTOL is a very interesting paper to do.
Reply:Just like a speech....
Tell the what you are going to tell them,
A machine that seems to define the laws of physics, blah, blah
Tell them,
All the scientific stuuff here
Tell them what you told them.
The reason the VTOL works is because blah, blah.
Reply:You need to highlight the innovation that is VT%26amp;L. How it re-invented flight, and the ability to land and take off in limited spaces.
The military has the biggest gains for this type of technology, but certain civilian applications are important, as well. Crop dusting is one example, the helicopter can manuever around the field much more efficiently than a plane can.
Cite examples like that.
You may want to start out with some kind of statement that is likely to make the reader want to find out what you meant by it. Like, maybe "Wright brothers couldn't have gotten this one right." or something like that.... And then go into your deal.
Good luck,
Stevo.
Reply:well you can talk about the development of VTOL. helicopters and gyros the inventors ectra.. now we have the v22 that is a plane and a helo.
on the essay part, use the 3 time rule . in the intro you tell the reader what you are going to say, in the body you tell them, then in the close you review what you just told them. then make a conclusion. ie that vtol is the way of the future of air craft or some statement like that.
