What are some good points for an ADHD research paper?

After being misdiagnosed and drugged many times through various doctors for 8 years over this topic, I have very little faith in psychologists and shrinks. Being that I have to take psychology for college, the teacher made everyone pick a topic out of a bag for a research paper. I pulled out ADD.





From personal experience, I want to write that ADD is a load of **** and that all you have to do is adjust the enviornment instead of using drugs. What would you recommend I write and focus about on this so called "disorder"?

For a college paper you will need to be objective. You will need to quantify your statement that ADD is a load of ......etc...


Research the subject thoroughly from many perspectives. I am sure that you will find many interesting articles and writing this paper will be be a form of drug free therapy for you. All the very best to you.
Reply:I wrote a paper on this subject. It was not research but here is my take.


Add is highly over diagnosed. Very few actually need to be medicated,,,The environment, upbringing, stress etc...are factors that affect a childs behavior,


How often when a child is brought for evaluation are the parents, guardians asked about what may be going on in the household,,,how the parents deal with the children.





I personally new a few kids that were "ADD or ADHD" they were on ritalin...


at my house, or in my care, with or without the ritalin, they listened and behaved, they did test me but found I was the authorityfigure and listened and oobserved the other kids.





I was not a tyrant,,,I simply expected the rules to be followed and they did..It always struck me odd that when their parents came to pick them up, they returned to the "ADD" child/





I do believe there are the few that truly do have behavior probelsm but again many dont,,,jsut to keep them calm is the focus today.
