My Research Paper is on birth order, and my claim is that lastborn children are not spoiled. My audience could be very general, but I'm not sure how to word it. Thank you for your ideas!
Who should the audience for my research paper on Birth Order be?
There is a lot involved in choosing an audience for a paper. You may want to start by asking yourself a few questions.
1. What am I writing this for?
2. Who will be reading this paper?
3. What type of paper am I writing? Am I writing to inform, am I writing to pursuade?
I imagine that you are writing this for some sort of an composition class. If I were you I would make my audience realitivly broad. I would stay away from writing in the first person (I, we our). However, this is a style issue the usually differes between teachers and professors. If I were you, my thesis statement would be something along these lines... Contrary to popular belief, recent studies have shown that last born children are not spoiled. You can specify this by adding what you think last bor childern are. For example...Contrary to popular belief, recent studies have shown that last born children are not spoiled, but instead gentle, caring and giving. You could also specify differently...Although it has been believed that last born children are spoiled, studies have shown that only children are more frequently spoiled.
There is a lot involved in chosing a thesis, just remember to stick to whatever thesis you choose. All information included in your paper should relate back to your thesis.
No matter who your audience is, a thesis statement is the key to the paper. I would write to a semi-eduated mixed gender audience. Explain all of your ideas, and I think you'll be fine.
