How to write a good biographical research paper?

I am a seventh grade history teacher and I am asking my students to write a biographical research paper for Black History month but I have to teach them how to write one.

How to write a good biographical research paper?
Well, normal essays contain 5 paragraphs.

1 intro paragraph: 5 sentences

- Includes an attention-grabbing intro

- You NEED a thesis, which is a sentence summarizing your essay.

3 body paragraphs: At least 5 sentences EACH

- Each paragraph must contain one thought or supportive idea that goes with your thesis.

- Use quotes to back up your facts.

Conclusion: 3 - 5 sentences

- Restate your thesis

- Leave the readers with a good ending.

Remember, use correct grammar/spelling and descriptive words.
Reply:First they should write about some one that they are interested in or a person that was important.

They should try to get a feeling for who that person was, and what kind of times they lived in. What influenced that person to become who they were? What was the impact that the person had- did they change the way blacks were percieved, or treated?

Encourage them to put themselves in that persons shoes, not merely reciting a list of relevant facts such as where they were born, when they were born, what they did and when they died.
