How do you correctly cite music lyrics as a source when writing a research paper?

I'm writing a research paper about music lyrics, the analyzation thereof, the literary devices used in lyrics, blah blah blah. I'm on spring break, so I can't ask my teacher, and it's due the day we get back to school. If you could help me with this, I would be greatly appreciative. Thank you.

A widely accepted method is putting the lyrics in quotes and after the end quote put the source in parenthesis. ex: "lyrics go here" (artist, year).

You can also use footnotes or endnotes, but they are a pain as you have to have a reference number next to the lyrics and then a reference location in your endnotes.
