You can really write a good paper on this topic. A topic sentence could be the effects of influenza in today's society. This could be centered on who many people are effected by the flu and what is being done to either prevent or eliminate the virus. A few sources could be the CDC website, www.webmd.com, just to name a few. If that topic isn't catchy to you, write about the effects of influenza in children vs. adults, and the severity of this epidemic. You may want to write about influenza, how it started, and how far we have come in "battling" this disease. You can find research papers on JSTOR, or any places your library has access to.
