What can I do for a research paper regarding plants?

I am in the sixth grade and I am doing a research paper and project for a science fair. I need to use plants and only have two weeks. Please Help.

What can I do for a research paper regarding plants?
You could do a display on invasive species in your area, that would impress some teachers and/or judges. It would also be an interesting topic.
Reply:Well, how about something pretty simple, like celery? You could discuss the use of chlorophyll by the plant. You could discuss the xylem and phloem system, use a cross-section of one stalk to illustrate. You could talk about the growing season and how long it takes for seedlings to mature into harvestable plants. You could also do a neat experiment that will really work. Take a freshly cut stalk, put it in a bottle (or beaker) of cold water treated with red food coloring so that it resembles Kool Aid. Watch as the red water flows up the stalk to the end. Pretty cool, and hopefully it will impress your teacher and classmates.
