OK So I am lost. I am taking an English course online and I had to write an exploratory essay on global warming. Now I have to write a research paper on the same subject. Is it normal to use the information you gathered from your essay to use in your research. Can you copy and paste some of it?

Use the same info, but don't just copy and paste. Your research paper will be more detailed and use more direct examples, citations and quotations. You will explore the topic in more depth with evidence to support every single claim you make.
