a research paper for english class. like for example, if i'm doing a paper on sculpting, can i put a picture of an artists sculptor?
Is it okay to put pictures on a research paper?
I do.
“Those that can do, those that cant teach.” By whoever said it.
But it’s your grade and the teacher is always right no matter what the facts are.
Artwork: Use appropriate drawings, pictures, diagrams, maps, tables and charts to illustrate key points. Keep artwork simple. Check the lonks out.

Reply:Only if it's absolutely necessary that the reader see the picture in order to get your point. For example, if you're describing so many details and making so many points about the composition of the sculpture that it's impossible to picture it without the actual image, then that should be okay. If you're just putting it in for artistic flair or because you happen to mention the sculpture in the paper, that's not a good reason.
Reply:I'm not sure what grade this is for but in graduate school, the only acceptable pictures are graphs and any other graphics used for data. A picture can be data if you are talking about a specific sculptor and then write (See Appendix A) after you mention it or something like that. Obviously that means you need to create an appendix of pictures. I wouldn't necessarily throw it into the middle of your paper unless it seems natural (like you can write "see below" or something).
good luck!
Reply:That wouldn't be a good idea. If you're going to put any kind of graphic into your paper, it should only be things like statistics, graphs, etc. It doesn't look very professional and it distracts the reader from your paper.
Reply:If the research paper is supposed to be in a formal format, such as MLA, then putting any sort of picture in would likely be out of the question.
Reply:In college you can't. However, in middle school and HS, it's more acceptable, though I was never allowed to, you really just have to cite your work and mention your sources.
Reply:i never heard of a picture in a research paper.
