The research paper should be persuasive. I was thinking about illegal immiragtion. or undocumented workers. but .. i'm really not sure yet.

marijuana? There always seems to be a good n bad on that subject.
Reply:my persuasive research paper in High school and college was on the existance of the glass ceiling. At the time I knew nothing about it an just picked it off of a list of suggestions. It was pretty eye opening and recently there seems to be a lot of stuff in the news about it. Perhaps you would find that interesting and a little different from what everyone else will be doing.
Reply:The upcomming election, illegal immigration, stuff like that
Reply:Animal experimentation is a good one, and it isn't as overused as some other major topics.
Reply:The approach I learned was to start by thinking of questions about anything that interested me, and then weed out the ones that seemed too simple or too difficult.
Reply:THe effects of incarceration on a criminal, abortion, death penalty

do it on a person: walt disney, a serial killer, mother theresa,

a historic event: ww2 or any war, 911, pompeii

GOOD LUCK : )
Reply:Illegal immigration would be an excellent topics, assuming you feel passionate one way or the other. Some other topics to consider:

- stem cell research

- victim - offender mediation

- anything campaign related

- Media (free speech, video news releases, manipulation of photos ect.)

- eminent domain

A good way to generate ideas is to start readings newspapers and magazines to learn more about the hot topics. That way, you can be sure that whatever topic you choose, you will be able to find information on.
Reply:Whatever topic you decide on, be sure to narrow it down even further so you don't go off on a tangent -- and don't go for the obvious. For instance, if it's illegal immigration, take a point of view such as why illegal immigration works. If it's war, make it about why the US benefits from wars, or something like that. Go for the controversy and it'll make doing the research more enjoyable.
Reply:Gay marriage.. That is if you support it.. You can simply persuade people why they are just the same as us and should be able to love freely.
Reply:death penalty?

  1. Or combine some topics, like "WW2" and "Pompeii."

My Dad visited Pompeii in WWII, and got these old postcards and photos. He was in the US Navy at the time.

You could write about the impact of WW2 on American tourism, as so many young servicemen, like my Dad, traveled overseas for the first time.
