How to Open a Research paper?

Hello! I'm writing a research paper over the affect of domestic violence on children and I was wondering how I could open it? This is a college course so it has to be good!

How to Open a Research paper?
In any paper you want to have a thesis. You should develop your thesis statement. Once you have your thesis statement defined your first paragraph should lead into it. I'm not sure what your thesis is so it would be hard to write and opening sentence for your paper.
Reply:Ever seen a kid with his finger tips chewed off by a dog? Ever seen a baby with mouse droppings in her diaper? Ever seen a kid who wont sit down, and when you see his bruised butt you know why?

Shock and awe baby! (PS, those were just my latest DHS calls- I work at a school)
Reply:You could try to open it with an interesting statistic or fact that has to do with domestic violence on children.
