I need some ideas for a research paper for my Cultural Anthropology class. I've been considering doing it on Darfur, but I think that other students might use that same issue. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Research Paper idea for Cultural Anthropology class?
The Peruvians who live on the islands of Lake Titicaca are absolutely fascinating to me. There is no running water or electricity, and the people all dress in traditional clothes that identify them as being single or married and the group they belong to. The floating island of the Uros people is a man-made island of reeds, and people actually live there.
I think you would find a lot of intersting things to write about if you did your paper on Peru. It has an incredibly interesting history, and a strong sense of cultural identity. You could study the impact the Inca Empire still has on Peru today and how it's juxtaposed with the Spanish influence, the Pachamama and Christianity duality, and how the earthquake last year impacted the people.
Other ideas:
The Maoris of New Zealand
The Aboriginese of Australia
Uganda and how the ramifications of Amin are still felt
Native Americans in the US
Myanmar
Good luck! : )
