What is a cool disease to write a research paper on?

I have to write a five page research paper on a disease or clinical conditions for my anatomy class. I want to write about something intresting any ideas?

What is a cool disease to write a research paper on?
There's no such thing as a 'cool' disease.

I did a dissertation on Hirschsprung's disease, but most of the interesting stuff (polygenic, types of inheritance, cause) about it is outside the field of anatomy.

Depending whether your anatomy course includes embriology (I guess it does), what about Fallot's tetralogy? It's caused by the heart 'tube' folding the wrong way in the embryo (so you can discuss about development of the heart), it affects the heart's anatomy and functionality and the treatment is surgical.

And there's a bit of... colour (pardon the pun) in the history of treatment (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivien_Thom... if you're looking for anecdotes to spice up your talk.
Reply:I find type 1 diabetes interesting.

I wouldn't exactly call a disease cool, though. -.-
Reply:What about the condition where your muscles turn into bone (it was on an episode of House) - Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva. Nasty!
Reply:e-coli
