What does it mean when a professor says that your research paper is worth 35 percent of your grade?

Lets say that my grade are as follow:

80 on a quiz, 90, on a test, 100 on a quiz and a 61 on the research paper which is worth 35 percent of my grade? What will that mean? What will my final grade be then?

What does it mean when a professor says that your research paper is worth 35 percent of your grade?
It means that the research paper has more weight on your grade, a little over a third of your total grade.

The total score for the class is 100%, divide this by 3 and you will get 33.33.. . .%.

What percentage of your final grade are the quizzes and exams?

Keep me posted. . .
Reply:It would mean that u need to improve ur grades and ur final grade will most likely be a B if u got a 100 on everything else but agian, it depends o what your professor countes everything else as part of ur grade.
Reply:Probably somewhere in the B family (low B, high B, something like that)
Reply:Basically this research paper will make or break your overall grade for the class. If you do well, your grade for the course might do well. If you do lousy, all your other grades better be awesome to do well for the course.
Reply:It depends on the weight of the other categories. 35% of your grade is a lot. Assume that tests are worth 40% of your grade, and quizzes 25%. Then your final grade would be:

Quiz: 80 + 100 = 90 avg x 25%= 22.50

Test: 90 x 40% = 36

Paper: 61 x 35% = 21.35

22.50+36+21.35=79.85 average for the class.
