What is a good hook sentence for a research paper supporting stem cell research?

My research paper supports stem cell research, and this is my thesis statement:





"Despite the negative media and controversial ethics, stem cell research is a good idea that could single-handedly hold the key to the future of medicine."





I have the worst writer's block in the world and have been thinking about this for days.





Please help!

Reply:I'm a professional writer, and I don't usually encounter Writer's Block, per se. But whenever I am stumped to begin a project, I pretend as though I am writing my best friend. That usually helps me to start putting my thoughts down on paper. Don't worry about how it sounds as it first comes out of your head, just get your thoughts down on paper.





I think your thesis statement is headed in the right direction, but it could more powerful and persuasive. I haven't researched stem cell research, but here's a stab at one...





Stem Cell Research is the most controversial subject to face the world since Abortion, yet could hold the key to unlocking the cures to the some of the deadliest diseases and afflictions affecting mankind.
